Nagarkot, the best Himalayan vantage point in the Kathmandu Valley, is located 32 kilometres east of the city. It is one of the most scenic spots in Bhaktapur district and is renowned for its spectacular sunrise view of the Himalayas.

Nagarkot has earned a reputation as one of the best spots to view Mount Everest as well as other snow-topped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal from the Kathmandu Valley. It also offers an excellent view of the Indrawati river valley to the east.

The narrow mountain paths take you through dense forest and ancient quiet villages while some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas provide a stunning backdrop. With an elevation of 2,195 meters, Nagarkot offers a panoramic view of the valley and an opportunity to observe the rich Nepali culture and traditions at close quarters.
